Transylvania Open WTA 250 returns in 2026 with a strong edition, bringing top-level players to Cluj, including a former Cluj champion. Sorana Cîrstea, currently enjoying a solid phase of her career, with a return to the WTA Top 50 and a nomination for “Comeback of the Year,” is back in Cluj-Napoca for another appearance, after stating that she felt excellent playing in front of the BTarena crowd. Anastasia Potapova, the 2025 Transylvania Open champion, will also return to the courts in Cluj to defend her title.

A special presence will be Emma Raducanu, a Grand Slam champion, who will compete at the Transylvania Open for the second time. With Romanian roots, Emma enjoys exceptional support from the local fans. The main draw will also feature other Romanian players such as Jaqueline Cristian, Ana Bogdan, and Gabriela Ruse, all on an upward trajectory. Jaqueline Cristian finished last year at a career-high ranking of No. 39 WTA, while Gabriela Ruse returned to the Top 100, reaching No. 83 after winning the tournament in Trnava.
Patrick Ciorcilă, Tournament Director of the Transylvania Open powered by Kaufland Romania, said:
“We are once again bringing a top-level tennis tournament to Cluj-Napoca, with a strong main draw that brings together world-class players and many Romanian athletes who truly deserve the public’s full support. Emma Raducanu’s return after five years is a particular joy for us, especially knowing how loved she is in Romania. We are honored that players choose to come back to our tournament year after year—for the atmosphere, the excellent conditions, and the extraordinary crowd at BTarena. This year, we have invested even more in off-court experiences, so that the tournament becomes a complete experience for both spectators and players.”
The sixth edition of the Transylvania Open WTA 250 will take place January 31 – February 7, 2026, at BTarena in Cluj-Napoca. Matches will be played indoors, as usual, on two hard courts. 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams will compete for the main trophies. The total prize money for the Cluj-Napoca tournament is USD 283,347.
