Transylvania Open WTA 250, the most prestigious women’s tennis tournament in Romania, returns with its sixth edition from January 31 to February 7, 2026, at BTarena in Cluj-Napoca. The announcement was made during the opening of the “Ronaldinho & Friends” exhibition match, part of Sports Festival 2025.
Once again, the tournament will bring top international players in front of Romanian fans, offering memorable moments of competition. As always, matches will be played indoors on hard courts. A total of 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams will compete for the coveted trophy.
The previous edition, held from February 1–9, 2025, was one to remember. Top seed Anastasia Potapova claimed the singles title after a thrilling three-set final against Italy’s Lucia Bronzetti.

The emotional event took place in front of a packed arena filled with tennis fans eager to celebrate one of the greatest players in tennis history.
The 2025 tournament allowed many Romanian players to compete in the singles and doubles main draws. The singles draw featured Sorana Cîrstea, Irina-Camelia Begu, Simona Halep, Ana Bogdan, Gabriela Ruse, and Jaqueline Cristian. In doubles, Monica Niculescu, Irina-Camelia Begu, Sorana Cîrstea, Simona Halep, Ana Bogdan, and Jaqueline Cristian (who reached the final alongside her partner Angelica Moratelli) were all present.
With over 17,000 spectators in attendance and a high level of competition, the 2025 edition was one of the most successful so far. The total prize money was $275,094, and the winners earned valuable WTA ranking points.
