Great show on Central Court: Dalma Galfi rounds up the last 16 after a superb win against Lucia Bronzetti

In one of the most beautiful matches played in Cluj these days, Hungarian Dalma Galfi won in three sets (4-6, 6-2, 6-4) in front of No. 9 seed Lucia Bronzetti, and rounded up the last 16 at Transylvania Open.

With this important victory, Dalma Galfi, World No. 89, continues her solid season, in which she reached round 3 at US Open and played her first final in a WTA tournament (125K, Contrexville).

The match displayed an exciting contrast of styles, as Dalma Galfi prefers to attack – she tries to close the point at the first opportunity – while Lucia Bronzetti is a counterpuncher, feeling good when she can respond to the opponent’s rhythm.

As is usually the case, such contrast produces quality: we saw well-constructed points, and most of them ended with winners or with rhythm-breaking moves, from excellently chosen drop shots to perfectly executed lobs.

At the post-match interview, Horia Tecău asked Dalma what was the key to her comeback.

“I tried to be aggressive both on serve and return, I had to stay in the match and keep motivating myself”, Dalma answered.

“It’s my first time in Cluj, I really like the city, but especially the tournament and everything it offers us. Everything is perfect, we get everything we need here. And I will return to Romania soon, for our Fed Cup match”, she added.

In round 2 Dalma Galfi will play against Nuria Parrizas-Dias, whom she met twice so far (1-1 at head-to-head matches).
