Hungarian Anna Bondar is continuing her strong season with a new qualification into the last 16 of a WTA tournament. Bondar, who is No. 8 seed at Transylvania Open, moved past Harriet Dart after two balanced sets, 7-6, 6-4.
Bondar has confirmed her top seed status so far, winning two matches without dropping any set. Against Dart she came back from 2-4 and 3-5 down before taking the first set to a tiebreak – where she performed flawlessly.
With the first set won, Bondar started the second one much more confident, and she broke Dart’s serve early, at 1-1. It proved decisive for the fate of the match, as she managed to keep that margin until the end.
“I am happy for this victory. I’m glad I won that tiebreak and broke early in the second set because that helped me close out the match in two sets. I knew Harriet’s game because we used to practice together, but it’s the first time when we meet in a tournament”, Anna said at the post-match interview.
Her next opponent will be the winner between Victorija Golubic and Anastasia Potapova.

Jasmine Paolini ousts Yastremska in straight sets
Italian Jasmine Paolini is the second player to move into the quarterfinals. She defeated Ukrainian Dayana Yastremska in straight sets: 6-4, 6-2. The match lasted only one hour, confirming that Paolini knows how to play against Dayana: this was her fourth win against Yastremska, former World No. 21.
The first set was balanced until 5-4. Yastremska served to stay in the set, but she committed a double fault and lost the game. The second set was easier for the Italians, who ceded only two more games.
In the quarterfinals, she will play against the winner between Jule Niemeier and Kamilla Rakhimova.
