Horia Tecău talks about the Main Draw, the Romanian’s matches and his role as post-match interviewer

Four months after his farewell match, which took place during the Sports Festival, Horia Tecău is back in Cluj for the Transylvania Open. He was offered and he accepted to do the post-match interviews, but he also came to watch the Romanians at work, as he is the captain of Romania’s Billie Jean King Cup team.

About the tournament:

„We are happy with this powerful lineup. For Romanian tennis, it’s very useful to welcome so many quality players who can inspire children. It is also great for the city and for Romania as well to host such an important event.”

About the Romanian players:

„I am happy the Romanians do not face each other in the first round. There is a potential encounter between Jaqueline Cristian and Gabi Ruse – of course if both win their first match. Ana Bogdan has entered WTA Top 50, she lives here in Cluj, so she will be happy getting all support from the home fans. We are looking forward to welcoming an energetic audience, who can support our players so they can have a good week.”

About his role as an interviewer:

„This is new for me, to hold the post-match interviews. There are only a few minutes, and a few questions, but it’s a beautiful moment to share with the winner in order to find out how she felt on the court. Meanwhile, as the captain of Romania’s BJK team, I will pay attention to our players’ matches, study their games and prepare for our November match against Hungary. Two Hungarian players are also present in the tournament, so this is a good opportunity for me to watch them too.”
