Jaqueline Cristian works hard to returning in the WTA circuit after a half-year break caused by a harsh knee injury. She recently won an ITF tournament (in Le Neubourg, France), so she is getting closer to regaining her rhythm. She has great memories from Transylvania Open’s first edition, when she reached quarterfinals and became one of the symbols of the tournament by wearing Dracula’s cape 🙂
How was her season
2022 was a fragmented and complicated season for Jaq. A ligament break at her right knee followed by a complicated surgery forced her to stay off courts for almost 8 months. She returned to the circuit at US Open, but only recently she started to regain her match fitness. The fact she won in Le Neubourg can help her speed up the recovery process, because no practice can have the intensity of an official match.
Playing style
Jaqueline’s tennis is mainly based on power and explosion. She has built her style on aggressiveness: to hit faster and harder, to take the ball as soon as possible, to pressure the opponent since the very first return, to not offer space and be the one that sets the rhythm of the match.
Big picture
Quarterfinalist in the first edition, Jaqueline returns to Cluj to regaining her rhythm, her confidence and the game level she reached at the end of 2021.
This autumn she played only a few matches, so she is not at the highest possible level, but the first edition showed us she loves to play at home and she surely knows how to absorb the energy coming from the audience.
So if you like a speedy and aggressive tennis, with a lot of winners, then you should not miss any of Jaqueline’s matches in Cluj.
