Irina Bara and Ekaterine Gorgodze, who are the Transylvania Open Doubles title holders, have been defeated this time in the very first round by the Russians Rakhimova & Sizikova: 6-1, 6-1.
Irina and Ekaterine have won four trophies together and were considered again among the favorites, but they weren’t able to find any solution against a very inspired Russian pair.

Belgian Ysaline Bonaventure is the first winner in the Singles competition after a balanced and spectacular match against Varvara Gracheva: 7-5, 7-5
„It hasn’t been easy, especially in the second set, I was down 4-0, but I managed to get my calm back and get the win”, Ysaline said in the post-match interview.
Ysaline had to play two qualifying matches to get into the Main Draw. She confessed feeling very good in Cluj:
„We had the players’ party last night, which was a nice event. It’s my first time here, it’s a very nice tournament, I’ve heard a lot of players say nice things about it and it’s really nice.”
