Xinyu Wang progresses at Transylvania Open after a convincing win against Magda Linette

Young Chinese Xinyu Wang, 21, has defeated No. 5 seed Magda Linette in two short sets: 6-2, 6-4.
Xinyu Wang, World No. 80, was very inspired in the key points, displaying disarming ease against the much more experienced Polish player.

The Chinese player lost her serve only once. The only balanced moment of the match was at the beginning of the second set when Linette heroically withstood Wang’s powerful shots until 3-3.

From that moment on, Wang did what she does best: she hit winners, imposed her aggressive game, and closed out the match after a solid game on her own serve.

The next opponent for Wang will be Anna Blinkova, who had to play in the qualifiers and has already won three consecutive matches in Cluj.

“I’m very happy, it’s my first time playing in Romania, I arrived a day ago, I didn’t have much time to adjust, but today I played a good match. I was happy to be on the court, so thank you all. I came to Cluj alone, but I have friends who support me”, Xinyu Wang said in the post-match interview.
