Georgia Crăciun: “Coming from the ITF and arriving in Cluj feels like stepping into paradise! It’s so beautiful!”

Georgia Crăciun played one of the most spectacular matches in the Transylvania Open 2025 qualifying draw. She lost (6-7, 3-6) to Marina Stakusic, but she says that her presence in Cluj was an important confidence boost and a stepping stone toward her future goals.

“It was a joy to come here, to play in the biggest tournament of my life and the most beautiful tournament in the world! I felt good on the court, but I was nervous—it’s not easy to play in front of a crowd. I want to thank the fans for supporting me throughout the match. It’s my first time here, and I’m pleasantly surprised by everything I see. I hope to come back, and I want to play in more tournaments like this!” said Georgia (25 years old).

What lessons did she take from this match?

“I had a set point, and I think I lacked a bit of courage and confidence. It’s clear—I need to be braver and more sure of myself. I’m upset that I couldn’t win the match, but it’s a learning experience, and I hope to come back to Cluj next year much stronger.”

This TO25 edition is a special one because all of Romania’s top players are here, including Simona Halep, Sorana Cîrstea, and Irina Begu. What did it mean for Georgia to grow up during the most glorious era of these players and Romanian women’s tennis?

“This generation is the greatest motivation for us. They taught us that we can dream beyond any limit. If they could do it, that means we can too. If not to surpass them, at least to get close to their level…”
