The pair of Kamilla Rakhimova and Sara Sorribes Tormo claimed the doubles title at the Transylvania Open!
Entering the final as underdogs against the third-seeded team of Xinyu Wang and Saisai Zheng, Rakhimova and Sorribes Tormo delivered a strong performance to win in two tightly contested sets, 7–6(7), 6–3.
During the on-court interview, Sara Sorribes Tormo made a point of thanking the crowd for their support:
“I’m so happy to be here! And I’m very emotional — I have goosebumps! It’s incredible to play and win here! Congratulations to the organizers for hosting the best WTA 250 tournament in the world! Kamilla, thank you — I hope we get to play together many more times!”
“Wonderful event,” added Kamilla Rakhimova. “Wonderful courts, wonderful crowd — you can see that you truly love tennis here. We felt so good in Cluj!” she said, before turning to her partner:
“Sara, thank you so much for this week! I was waiting for your message before the tournament, and when I received it, I said to myself: Yes! We are back!”
