New: Half-Day tickets available for evening sessions, Monday to Thursday
Ana Bogdan, the finalist of the last edition of the Transylvania Open, Jaqueline Cristian, and Gabriela Ruse, three of Romania’s most valuable tennis players, have confirmed their participation in the Transylvania Open WTA 250, 2025 edition, which will take place between February 1 and 9 in Cluj-Napoca. Romanian fans will again have the chance to cheer on these top athletes at home in an internationally renowned tournament.
Early bird tickets for Transylvania Open 2025 will be available in limited numbers starting October 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM. They can be purchased online from the tournament’s website. The novelty this year is the introduction of Half-Day tickets for evening sessions, available Monday through Thursday after 5:00 PM, allowing tennis fans who cannot attend the full day of matches to still enjoy the top evening games. As in previous years, access to the qualifying days will remain free but will require a 0-value ticket.
Early bird prices for Full-Day tickets will be 45 RON in the initial tournament days, while Half-Day tickets will be 35 RON during this phase. For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, when the quarterfinals, semifinals, and finals are played, only Full-Day tickets will be available, with special prices reaching up to 145 RON for the final.
Patrick Ciorcilă, director of Transylvania Open WTA 250, says: “We’re gearing up for a special TO 2025 anniversary edition, our fifth edition, and for that, we have a series of surprises in store. The first is that this year we’re introducing Half-Day tickets, for those who can’t be present all day but want to enjoy the evening matches. You’ll discover the rest gradually as we approach the tournament. We’ve thought of exciting experiences for tennis fans and for those experiencing the atmosphere of a tournament for the first time. We welcome everyone, whether they’re fans or just curious to discover the magic of tennis, to BT Arena to once again live the tennis magic together, in the heart of Transylvania!”
The Transylvania Open WTA 250 tournament, now an iconic event for Romanian tennis, is organized under a permanent license acquired this year from Palermo Ladies Open, continuing to promote Romania as a destination for world-class tennis. Despite being a young tournament, it was voted by players, two years in a row, in 2022 and 2023, as the best tournament in the world in the WTA 250 category!
The most recent edition of the Transylvania Open took place in BT Arena in Cluj-Napoca, from February 3 to 11, 2024. Matches were played indoors on hard courts on two tennis courts. A total of 32 players competed in the singles matches, and 16 teams in doubles, for 250 WTA points and prizes totaling $267,082. This year’s grand prize winner was Karolina Pliskova, a former world No. 1 and headliner of the tournament in Cluj-Napoca. She played the final against Ana Bogdan, the 8th seed of the competition.
