A significant number of the top-seeded players in the Transylvania Open qualifying draw successfully earned a place in the main draw. Top seed Anna Bondar, second seed Sara Sorribes Tormo, along with Marina Stakusic (5), Daria Snigur (8), Ella Seidel (11), and Francesca Jones, all won both of their qualifying matches to advance to the main draw in Cluj.
Except Daria Snigur, all the qualifiers had relatively straightforward matches, without much wasted energy. Anna Bondar claimed straight-set victories over Leyre Romero Gormaz and Anastasia Zakharova, while Sorribes Tormo overcame Sara Maria Popa and Aliaksandra Sasnovich; Stakusic defeated Georgia Crăciun and Tamara Korpatsch; Ella Seidel advanced past Radivojevic and Chwalinska.
Eighth-seeded qualifier Daria Snigur faced a tough challenge against third-seeded Anca Todoni in the Transylvania Open qualifying rounds. Snigur, ranked No. 136 WTA, edged past Todoni 7-6, 6-4 in a hard-fought match that lasted nearly two hours. The Romanian player had the upper hand in both sets, leading 5-2 in the first—where she even held a set point—and securing an early break in the second.
At key moments, Snigur was more composed on the court, made fewer unforced errors, and managed to turn the match around by capitalizing on Todoni’s missed opportunities. Each time she trailed, Snigur steadied her game, eventually building a lead that Todoni could not recover from.
In regards to facing strong opponents, Todoni’s path during qualifications was particularly challenging: in the first round, she battled Rebeka Masarova, a player whose skill level far exceeds her current ranking, before taking on the experienced and tricky Daria Snigur.
Following the completion of the qualifying rounds, the main draw matchups have been set. The qualifiers will face the following opponents in the first round: Anna Bondar will meet Suzan Lamens, Sara Sorribes Tormo will fight against Anna Blinkova, Marina Stakusic will play against Sorana Cîrstea, Francesca Jones vs. Katerina Siniakova and Daria Snigur vs. Caroline Dolehide.
