Emma Raducanu impresses again in Cluj: the top seed qualifies for the Transylvania Open semifinals!

Emma Raducanu and Oleksandra Oliynykova will play on Friday for a place in the Transylvania Open final, following their convincing quarterfinal victories. Emma defeated Maja Chwalińska in straight sets, 6–0, 6–4, while Oleksandra secured a symmetrical 6–4, 6–4 win over Xinyu Wang.

Emma, the top seed at this year’s Transylvania Open, started her match against Chwalińska in the same manner she had finished the one against Juvan: precise in every execution, extremely careful with shot selection, and showing no signs of hesitation.

That solid approach was clearly reflected both on court and on the scoreboard. Raducanu dominated the first set, giving her opponent no opportunity to take control and keeping her under constant pressure. It was another clean performance from Emma, whose game looked fully settled across all areas — on serve, where she dropped just one point in the opening set, as well as offensively and in the way she constructed and finished points: patiently, without forcing, and without trying to do more than necessary.

For an entire set, Chwalińska was unable to bring out her efficient, fast-paced tennis, as she was outplayed by Raducanu in every department. As the match progressed, the Polish player managed at times to string together better points and find her way into the contest, but it wasn’t enough. Emma Raducanu knew how to close the match at the right moment.

“I’m really happy to be in the semifinals. It’s been a few months since I last reached one, so to be back in this position means a lot — the hard work over the past weeks is paying off,” Emma said at the press conference.

She admitted she hasn’t seen much of her semifinal opponent, Oleksandra Oliynykova, in action. “But I know she plays well, she’s beaten some strong opponents, and had a very high-quality match against Madison Keys at the Australian Open. I’ll need to be very focused and in my best shape tomorrow. I don’t know how the match will unfold, but we’ll both give our best. She’s a fighter, and I’m also pleased with how I’ve handled things throughout the week,” added Emma Raducanu.
