Transylvania Open 2024 knows no shortage when it comes to strong matches starting with the first round; the most interesting duel of the main draw’s first day is the one between the American player Alycia Parks and Ana Bogdan, the player from Romania with the best ranking among the Romanians.
Here’s what you need to know about the match:
- Ana Bogdan is looking to tie the victories again. At the start of this season, Ana has two wins out of five games, given the fact that she has been at 60-70 percent of her potential, after having a nose intervention to help her deal with a breathing problem. Ana is now back in very good physical shape but will have a tough task against the dangerous player Alycia Parks, who is coming off a successful tournament at the Australian Open, where she reached the third round.
- 1-0 during direct meetings for Ana Bogdan. Who will prevail now? Bogdan has played with Parks before and defeated her in their first match, which took place last year at Wimbledon. Back then, Ana prevailed in three sets, 1-6, 6-3, 6-2. The problem data is slightly changed now: the surface is different, the level of the American player is dissimilar, evolving enough in the last months, and the level of confidence leans more towards Parks, who ticked off an important victory in Australia by winning the match against the Canadian player Leylah Fernandez.
- Alycia Parks. Considered one of the most promising players in the US, she has important weapons, is very aggressive, and has a serve that, on a good day, can wreak havoc: she equaled or broke several tournament records for service speed at tournaments such as the US Open (tied Venus Williams by serving at 207 km/h, the tournament record) or Madrid.
Parks is at the Transylvania Open tournament for the second year in a row: last year she also played a Romanian in the first round, losing to Gabriela Ruse.
